Active Shooter incidents typically end within 5 minutes, and two thirds of these violent and deadly events are over before law enforcement can arrive on scene. So how do we build our preparedness and increase our chance at survival if we need to deal with these situations on our?
The Backpack Safety Buddy includes tools that can help increase your chances of survival (6x9 inch pack). Place in your backpack or bag and hopefully you will never need it.
However, imagine being stuck in a school or a building and you cannot exit and run. Maybe the shooter is blocking the exit? You run into a room, and the door does not have a lock. Yes, begin to block the door and barricade as best as possible. However, imagine going into your backpack and having the ability to pull out a door stop and kick it under the very door you are relying on for your life.
You or a loved one are in a building fire and cannot escape. There are sounds of first responders trying to come your way. While you were planning your next step, you have the KN95 mask to provide valuable seconds for escape. Seconds matter. Also, when your able to, you begin to blow the safety whistle included in your backpack to signal your location to first responders fire team coming your way. These measures equal preparedness and give you or a loved one a fighting chance.

A look at the Numbers: In 2023 there were 48 Active Shooter incidents with 244 causalities (105 killed & 139 wounded). In 2024 there were a total of twenty-four (24) Active Shooter incidents within the United States. (FBI, 2025).
In 2024 there were 24 incidents, 29 firearms were used by the shooters: 17 handguns, 9 rifles, 3 shot guns, and 1 incident included an improvised explosion device.
In these events there a total of 106 causalities (23 killed & 83 wounded). 12 occurred in an open space, 4 in a business, 4 in schools, 3 in government space, 1 in a house of worship, (FBI, 2025).
